Jake Booth just wanted some Taco Bell, which is a very epic turn of events, given that he was in a medically induced coma for 42 days. He woke up last month after a bad case of bronchitis evolved into pneumonia, which then prompted a heart attack, and Taco Bell was the first thought following his fresh breath after a coma.
He’s good now, and his buddy Tyler Chronister posted the above picture with one of the best titles to ever land in Reddit: “My friend Jake woke from a 42 day coma a few weeks ago. Relearning his speech, he made it VERY clear since he woke that he wants taco bell but has been unable to eat yet. I have never seen true happiness until now.”
The 35-year-old army veteran and former sheriff’s deputy came out of the terrifying coma — being technically dead for 15 minutes will earn that description — with flying colors by immediately recognized his wife and two children. But the part of the story the family will forever remember, and now tell with a smile and a tear, is how Booth’s first words once conscious was, “I want Taco Bell.”
When he finally got his wish, it was a big deal—and not just for Booth. According to his brother, “We’d all been waiting an entire month for him to eat those tacos. It was symbolic of the entire thing—more of a metaphor of him having woken up and being given a second chance at life.”
