At last night’s Republican debate, Sen. Ted Cruz made a point to speak disparagingly of “New York values,” which he said were “pro-abortion or pro-gay-marriage” and focused on “money and the media.”

Not surprising, the comments didn’t sit well with many New Yorkers, including fellow Republican candidate Donald Trump. But as you’ll see from the following tweet, it was the New York Daily News that seemed to take it the hardest, encouraging the candidate to "drop dead” and “go back to Canada” via this outrageous cover:


Personally, I think it would have made more sense to tell Cruz to drop dead after telling him to go back to Canada (the country of his birth), since dead men tend not to travel. But even so, I think Cruz will understand the underlying message that the Daily News (which I seem to be reading a lot, lately) is trying to convey.

Regardless, Cruz probably isn’t too worried about offending citizens of the Big Appple. As evidenced by his recent Duck Dynasty endorsement, it seems as if he’s courting a very different set of voters:
