Car stats can be a little dizzying. The horsepower wars have gotten out of control with more and more supercars blazing right past the 700HP barrier and 0-60 times dipping further and further south of three seconds. So when it was announced last month that the new Tesla S P100D could do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, it was a little tough to put that into context. Well, here’s all the context you need in the form of a drag race with a Lamborghini Huracan.
The folks at YouTube channel Drag Times took a 2016 Lamborghini Huracan out onto a public highway (do not try this at home) against a 2016 Tesla S P100D with Ludicrous Mode. The Huracan is a $248,000 coupe with a V10 engine that just looks fast. The P100D is a four-door sedan that costs about 100 grand less, can easily hold five adults with ample storage space, and looks like a startup founder’s grocery getter.
But don’t sleep on the Tesla. As the video shows, the car absolutely explodes off the line before the Lambo’s higher top-end speed catches up. The Tesla’s 0-60 time makes it the third fastest production car ever, behind only the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. And watching it smoke the Huracan proves those numbers are legit.
This video cannot be making the folks at Lamborghini happy.
