The Daily- August 16

Welcome to The Daily – the five awesome things you need to read (or see) on Playboy.com errday. You’re welcome.

  1. 20Q: JOSH GROBAN

    01 the daily 08_16

You’ve sold more than 25 million albums of swelling, romantic ballads that make women weep. Your new album, Stages, is mostly Broadway songs from A Chorus Line, Les Misérables and other shows. For people who don’t know your music, how would you explain what you do?

  2. PAUL QUI IS READY TO TAKE MIAMI

    02 the daily 08_16

Jazz music wafts through chef Paul Qui’s kitchen as he preps for a hectic dinner service. “We put in a record player a couple of months ago,” Qui says. Whether it’s the calming, spinning vinyl or his zen-like composure under pressure (he did win Top Chef, after all), Qui seems very cool for a man about to open five eateries within the next four months.

  3. THE HOPPIEST IPAS ONLY FOR THE BRAVE AT HEART

    03 the daily 08_16

Brewers and beer geeks know all about IBUs—or international bittering units. IBUs are basically the amount of hops that have been permanently imparted to a beer through the brewing process. More hops equals more bitterness—at least in theory.

  4. WITH THE SHOW MOVING TO HBO, HAVE WE, AS A CULTURE, FAILED ‘SESAME STREET’?

    04 the daily 08_16

Today, the news came down that Sesame Workshop — the not-for-profit organization responsible for, among other things, producing Sesame Street for PBS, where it has lived for 45 years — is taking Elmo, Oscar and Big Bird to HBO. The press release explains that in return for enabling Sesame Workshop to make “almost twice as much new content as previous seasons,” HBO will have the exclusive right to air new Sesame Street episodes on their various networks for nine months — after which PBS will get to broadcast them for free.

  5. NO TINY BIKINI CAN CONTAIN KATE UPTON’S HOTNESS

    05 the daily 08_16

The best part about Kate Upton is everything. She always looks great and always seems to be having a great time, which probably isn’t too difficult when your job is to roll around pristine white beaches beside immaculate blue water. And the woman, as charming and humble as ever, is grateful for everything Sports Illustrated has given her, and we should be thankful for everything they have given us, because oh my god have you seen this video.
