The Lookbook: Camel

The Lookbook: Camel:

Do you know what day it is? Do you? Do you? Anybody? It’s HUMP DAY! Given that, it only made sense for our latest Lookbook to feature what is arguably the coolest color this fall and winter, camel.

Darker than khaki, but lighter than brown, camel can be sophisticated or rugged. While you certainly could pull off the color head-to-toe, camel is also a color that plays nice with everything else in your wardrobe. Pair a camel sweater with some black pants if you’re heading to a nice dinner; or go with a camel duffel coat over some well broken-in jeans for a collegiate vibe. Whichever way you decide to rock camel, be prepared for people to try and hump your style.

1. WANT LES ESSENTIELS OHARE TOTE
$250, wantlesessentiels.com
Simple. Durable. Elegant. Those are really the only words you need to describe this tote from Want Les Essentiels, the brainchild of brothers Byron and Dexter Peart. Constructed from organic cotton with leather handles, it is the ideal size for a work bag with plenty of room for your gym clothes and important papers.

2. GARRET LEIGHT ANGELUS 47 SUNGLASSES
$315, barneys.com
Details like green lenses that contrast smartly with the butterscotch acetate frames are what make Garret Leight’s sunglasses stand out from the pack. The frames are inspired by designs worn by old Hollywood stars and the name comes from a street in Venice, California, where the company is headquarterd.

3. SUIT SUPPLY CORDUROY CHINOS
$189, suitsupply.com
It’s time to channel your inner Wes Anderson and get yourself a pair of camel corduroy pants. They will be warmer than your typical chinos and add a layer of texture to your outfit. Plus, if you walk really fast in them, they make a noise.

4. BURBERRY CLASSIC SCARF
$475, burberry.com
The classic Burberry scarf is one of the most bootlegged fashion accessories next to the fake Rolex Submariner. But you still can’t beat the original cashmere scarf with the iconic check pattern. Made in the same Scottish mill that has been manufacturing the scarves for over 100 years, it takes 30 steps to complete each one.

5. GOORIN BROS. DEAN THE BUTCHER HAT
$150, goorin.com
In the Mad Men era all gentelmen wore hats. As menswear went more casual, the fedora faded away. But the hat is making a comeback and this classic wool felt style from Goorin Bros. adds a dash of flair to any outfit and instantly classes up a jeans-and-T-shirt look.

6. GANT CABLE CREWNECK SWEATER
$215, gant.com
The cable crewneck sweater falls in that “must have” category for guys. Seriously, you’ll find yourself wearing this ridiculously soft lambswool sweater with everything from sweatpants and sneakers to a blazer and wingtips.

7. L.L. BEAN DUFFEL COAT
$299, llbean.com
With a Dead Poets Society vibe, this duffel coat has a youthful irreverence. But don’t be surprised if this stays in your closet through old age. L.L. Bean partnered with Sterlingwear of Boston, which makes wool coats for the U.S. Navy, so you can be assured of this jacket’s durability.
