We often like to think that people being rude in movie theaters is a recent invention, coinciding with the rise of the cell phone and the concept that people can now watch pretty much any movie they want in their living rooms, so they tend to treat crowded theaters like their living rooms. If these vintage PSA posters are any indication, though, jerks at the movies have been a problem ever since the Silent Film era. The biggest problem in those days wasn’t an idiot who wouldn’t stop texting, though. Apparently, it was hats.
