Of all the important debates in society today, there is one that rises above all others as the most important: Should you hang toilet paper with the next sheet over the roll or under it? It’s ruined friendships, caused arguments and torn entire families apart. And there seems to be no definitive answer.
Not anymore. A recent patent submitted by Seth Wheeler, founder of the Albany Perforated Wrapping Paper Company, in 1891 shows the way toilet paper was meant to be hung for all of eternity.
As if that were not proof enough, one Twitter user also found a second patent from 1892 that confirms the original design.
So it’s final. Both the debate and the method to hang is over. Rationality has prevailed.
