DARPA has developed a .50 caliber sniper rifle bullet that will track moving targets… so now anyone can be an elite sniper.

This may sound like something out of a comic book but it’s a terrifying reality. Take a look at the live-fire test video DARPA just released:

The bullet is called EXACTO which stands for Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance and if the frighteningly vague sounding-ness of that doesn’t send shivers down you and our enemies’ spines… nothing will. Personally I would have went with a more straightforward name for the bullets like, “Later Dude: Tracking Bullets” but I guess that’s why I’m working for Playboy and not DARPA.

Here’s how DARPA’s website describes the round:

The EXACTO 50- caliber round and optical sighting technology was developed to greatly extend the day and nighttime range over current state-of-the-art sniper systems. The system combined a maneuverable bullet and a real-time guidance system to track and deliver the projectile to the target, allowing the bullet to change path during flight to compensate for any unexpected factors that may drive it off course.

Sorry Angelina, but it looks like you’re now out of a job.
