While speaking at a rally in Buffalo, N.Y., Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump invoked the memory of the “7-11” terrorist attacks, calling to mind the well-known convenience store chain 7-Eleven instead of 9-11, the well-known bromide of American patriotism.

On the one hand, who cares? It’s a slip of the tongue. It’s hard to imagine another candidate getting this much grief over something so trivial. But on the other hand, Trump’s based his entire campaign on being outlandish. It’s safe to assume he’d jump all over Hillary Clinton or Ted Cruz for making the same mistake.
So, yes, it’s a pile-on for a forgivable error.
Couldn’t be happening to a nicer guy.
