Up in Smoke: Premarital Sex

Share

There’s this weird research paper going around from Cornell University that states that having sex before marriage can lead to an unhappy relationship. Uh, what?

Researchers based their findings on questions asked to 600 couples, all under 45, about relationships, communication issues, infidelity and sexual satisfaction. Of the 600, there was a strong correlation between positive scores and abstaining from sex for one month.

Because of this, the study believes, “precocious, premarital sexual activities may have lasting effects on relationship quality.” What they’re trying to say is that when you abstain from getting laid by your partner, you’re working out issues you may have just had hate sex over instead, which sounds awful to us.

Having sex is a physical necessity and has so many positive impacts on your life, like lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, boosting immunity, burning calories, improving your heart, helping you experience deeper intimacy and giving you better self-esteem. But who would want all of those things in a relationship, anyway? Oh wait, that’s right: 95 percent of Americans have taken part in premarital sex.

We believe if you’re someone who can’t take the sex as seriously as the relationship, then maybe you’re not ready to share your life with someone else.

What do you think about premarital sex?
