By some small miracle, the grocery chain Kroger is holding a drawing this week for 13 notoriously hard-to-come-by bottles of Van Winkle bourbon. With a little effort (or a lot, depending on where you live), you could be one of the lucky few to land one for yourself.

The raffle is part of a promotion called “Pappy Valentines Day” the grocery chain announced last week. Kroger has somehow secrectly held back their allotment of 13 bottles of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year and Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year. These two bottlings have suggested retail prices around $60, but good luck ever finding them at that price. Usually, even these ‘lesser’ Van Winkle bottlings are snatched up quickly and can sell secondhand for upwards of $300. The problem has only gotten worse since Van Winkle’s distiller, Buffalo Trace, announced a shortage in the fall.

But here is the sad catch, especially for us out West. There are only 13 places you can enter to win and they’re all clustered in Kentucky. To enter the drawing, you have to go to a Kroger Wine & Spirit Shoppe location in the Bluegrass State, but you can enter at each store everyday this week (That means you can, in theory, enter to win all 13 bottles to increase your odds). And it wouldn’t be out of the question to invest some time driving from out of state: chances to buy Van Winkle bottles are few and far between, and the payoff is high. So you and your friends should load into a car for a little road trip.

Winners will be selected at 5 p.m. Feb. 13. May the odds be ever in your favor.
