To quote Madonna (something I’m not particularly fond of), “We are living in a material world.” To help you figure out which of the millions of material goods swirling around us is worth spending your hard-earned cash on, we have put together The Want List, consisting of the items we really love this week.
LA MARZOCCO LINEA MINI
If you are a coffee snob who wants more than a cup of Sanka, chances are you’ve seen the La Marzocco Linea Classic espresso maker being wielded by your favorite barista. Now the iconic espresso machine has been shrunk to make it more practical for home use and the result is the Linea Mini. It has dual boilers to make brewing espresso and steaming milk easier and precise temperature controls.

There are levels to everything, even private jets. Sure the Gulfstream may get namechecked in lots of rap lyrics, but the Skyacht One is in a class of its own. Built on an Embraer Lineage 1000E, which is more like a commercial airliner than a private one, the Skyacht One is designed to reflect a level of craftsmanship seen in classic yachts. There is beautiful mahogany woodwork throughout the cabin, the windows look like portholes, and even the handles on the sink are shaped like a yacht’s throttle controls.
GLOBE BLAZER SPEAKER SKATEBOARD
Riding on a cruiser skateboard just feels better when good music is playing. But wearing headphones can be cumbersome and also makes it harder to hear when a car is screeching toward you. That’s why Globe integrated a Boombotix speaker into its 26-inch Blazer deck. The speaker connects with any Bluetooth device and has a 50mm driver so you can feel the bass under your feet. Most importantly, the speaker is impact resistant, although we wouldn’t reccomend trying to kickflip down a hefty stair set with it.
THE HILL-SIDE X CB2 PARLOUR CHAIR
CB2 is like the cooler sibling of Crate & Barrel. So it makes sense that CB2 tapped the team behind cool menswear brand The Hill-Side for a collaboration. The comfortable armchair features a custom palm leave print in a sunwashed blue-grey color that stands out without clashing with everything you already own. Prepare for all your guests to ask “Where’d you get that chair?”
LEGO ARCHITECTURE NEW YORK CITY SKYLINE
The latest release from Lego’s Architecture line, which allows design-savvy grown-ups to play with toys and feel OK about it, are models of the skylines of some of the world’s greatest cities. The New York City version includes models of the Flatiron Building, Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, and the newest addition to NYC’s skyline, One World Trade Center. The finished set includes 598 pieces and stands 10 inches tall. Other cities available are Berlin and Venice.
