To quote Madonna (something I’m not particularly fond of), “We are living in a material world.” To help you figure out which of the millions of material goods swirling around us is worth spending your hard-earned cash on, we have put together The Want List, consisting of the items we really love this week.
NAIM MU-SO QB
There is no shortage of Bluetooth speakers out there, but the Mu-so Qb is more than that. It delivers a lot more oomph and audiophile-level sound. The Qb delivers 300 watts of power and has bass radiators that really boom. Connectivity is easy via Bluetooth, Apple Airplay, Spotify Connect, or many other options, and the Qb pairs easily with other Naim devices so you can play music in multiple rooms.
ASTON MARTIN VULCAN
Price unavailable, rmlmallock.co.uk
The Aston Martin Vulcan is one of the most incredible supercars ever made, with a 7.0 liter V12 that puts out 820 horsepower and an all carbon fiber body. The only problem is it can only be driven on the track. Until now. British engineering firm RML is offering a kit to make the Vulcan street legal. The process will take three to four months and the first project is expected to be completed later this year. There’s only 24 of the $3.4 million Vulcans in existence so it will be interesting how many of them get converted into high-powered grocery-getters.
Leatherman is one of those companies like Kleenex or Band-Aid whose brand name is used to describe everything else in its category, a testament to the quality and utility of its multitools. The new Signal carries on that tradition with the addition of features for people who enjoy the great outdoors and camping. With 19 tools, the Signal has all the things you’d expect like a knife, pliers, and saw. But it is also equipped with an emergency whistle, a fire-starting rod, and a blade sharpener.
BIRDWELL X RVCA TRUNKS
The Birdwell Beach Britches were some of the first boardshorts ever created and the style of the nylon trunks has endured. While there may be more high-performance shorts out there, few can match their style. RVCA elevated that appeal with its Birdwell collaboration that features a contrasting waistband and pocket flap and RVCA’s opposing arrows design printed on the lining.
REEBOK ALIEN STOMPER MID
While not as iconic as the Nike Air Mags from Back To The Future 2, the Reebok Alien Stomper sneakers from Aliens are still memorable. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the James Cameron film that showed Sigourney Weaver in full badass mode, Reebok is bringing back the kicks. Thankfully, they’re making them in an infinitely more wearable midtop style as well as the original ultra hightops. Only 1,986 pairs of the mids will be available, a nod to the year Aliens was released.
