To quote Madonna (something I’m not particularly fond of), “We are living in a material world.” To help you figure out which of the millions of material goods swirling around us is worth spending your hard-earned cash on, we have put together The Want List, consisting of the items we really love this week.
ALMOND X WOOLRICH WAX AND WOOL BLANKET
Memorial Day is next weekend and that means the start of beach season. This blanket from Woolrich and Almond Surfboards deserves a permanent place in your beach bag. The white and navy stripes are the perfect colors for summer and it has a zippered corduroy pocket so you can safely stash your keys, phone and cash inside instead of burying them in the sand.
Drones are great for filming incredible aerial shots, but they require someone to man the controls. The new Lily Camera does away with all that. Simply get the camera-mounted drone airborne and it will follow you, maintaining a predetermined distance from a puck that you keep on your wrist. The Lily is waterproof and shoots 1080p HD video at 60 frames per second. It can’t detect obstacles so snowboarding through the trees is out of the question, but it’s great for running, biking, surfing, and just about anything else.
DEUS EX MACHINA BMW R NINET HEINRICH MANEUVER
Price unavailable, deuscustoms.com
Starting with a BMW R nineT, motorcycle customizers at Deus Ex Machina created this amazing machine inspired by German fuel tank designer Karl Heinrich. The glossy white tank on this bike is not just impressive to look at, it’s also a feat of engineering that keeps gas from sloshing all around. Other design mods that combine form and function are the suede-covered seat and repositioned foot pegs.
COMME DES GARCONS PLAY X CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL-STAR ‘70
We’re big fans of the Comme Des Garcons Play line with its fun, anthropomorphized heart logo. The latest place that logo shows up is on Converse’s premium version of the classic Chuck, the Chuck Taylor All-Star '70. The two brands have collaborated before but for the latest version, the heart logo is much larger and shown peeking up over the midsole.
DAN & DAVE ANTLER LIMITED EDITION PLAYING CARDS
One of the easiest ways to elevate your weekly card game is to focus on the cards themselves. The twin bucks on the backs of each card are inspired by those found in Yosemite National Park and the aces feature an exquisite rack (of antlers, you perv). The decks are available in either hunter green or deep maroon.
