To quote Madonna (something I’m not particularly fond of), “We are living in a material world.” To help you figure out which of the millions of material goods swirling around us is worth spending your hard-earned cash on, we have put together The Want List, consisting of the items we really love this week.
You may not be able to afford the supercar of your dreams, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a crapton of fun behind the wheel in a vehicle you built with your own hands. The PlyFly wooden go-kart is gas-powered and comes in 2.5hp and 4hp models. The entire thing ships in just three boxes. You can build it in a day and then start terrorizing the neighborhood.
SHWOOD X STANLEY ADVENTURE PACK
Legendary thermos company Stanley teamed up with Shwood on a pack that includes a flask and a pair of sunglasses. Both feature the iconic Stanley hammertone texture. The flask is wrapped in a gorgeous leather sleeve and the shades feature wood accents. Selling the two items together makes perfect sense. One helps you work up the courage to make questionable decisions, the other helps you avoid the aftermath of said decisions.
BLADE & BOW BOURBON
Named after the parts of a skeleton key, Blade & Bow bourbon whiskey won gold at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The bourbon starts off with notes of apricot and pear and finishes with an oaky taste. Each bottle is accompanied by a key—some of which are rarer than others.
MASTER & DYNAMIC MH40 HEADPHONES
The Master & Dynamic MH40 was already one of most beautiful headphones we’ve ever seen. Now the company has added navy to its color lineup to make the over-the-ear devices look even better. The colorway was inspired by artist Marco Brambilla, whose recent Apollo XVIII exhibition paid homage to the U.S. space program and featured numerous shades of blue. The headphones still feature all the materials—steel, aluminum, and leather—that made the originals so great.
EVAN LONGORIA X NEW BALANCE 530
You don’t see a lot of baseball players collaborate on sneakers, even though there are some serious sneakerheads in the majors such as Jeremy Guthrie and Shane Victorino. Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria is also in that mix and collaborated with New Balance on a limited edition version of the 530. The upper is a mix of black suede and black denim and a sheepskin lining to mirror the feel of a baseball glove.
