To quote Madonna (something I’m not particularly fond of), “We are living in a material world.” To help you figure out which of the millions of material goods swirling around us is worth spending your hard-earned cash on, we have put together The Want List, consisting of the items we really love this week.
BOSE QUIETCOMFORT 35 HEADPHONES
Get on any plane and you are guaranteed to find more than a handful of people in business class wearing Bose’s QuietComfort headphones. Bose pioneered noise cancelling headphones with the line, but had fallen behind in recent years because they still needed to be tethered to a device. Not anymore. Bose has finally released a wireless version that provide balanced audio in any environment and has a battery that can last for 20 hours.
VANS X NINTENDO COLLECTION
Anyone who remembers the original Nintendo Entertainment System and blowing on the game cartridges to make them work will appreciate Vans’ latest collaboration. The sneaker brand partnered with Nintendo to create graphics for the Authentic, Slip-On, and Sk8-Hi that feature characters from games such as Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, and Donkey Kong. The soles on each of the shoes say “Game Over!” in the pixelated font that will be instantly recognizable to old school gamers.
MCLAREN SPECIAL OPERATIONS CARBON SERIES 675LT
Price unavailable, mclaren.com
The reason that carbon fiber is used so extensively in supercars is because of its incredible strength-to-weight ratio. But the material itself also looks incredibly cool with its greyish-black weave. McLaren played up the aesthetics of carbon fiber with this limited edition 675LT. It does away with a paint job entirely and lets the carbon fiber stand on its own, and there is lots of it. The Carbon Series has 40 percent more carbon fiber parts than the standard 675LT Spider. Only 25 of these cars were made and they are all already purchased.
Standard drip coffee makers have been able to make coffee at a preset time forever, but the Bariseur elevates the level of coffee that you wake up to. The Kickstarter project is an alarm clock that makes a cup of pour-over joe when the alarm goes off. You just have to be careful not to hit snooze too hard because you don’t want your day to start with scalding hot coffee all over your hand.
MOPHIE JUICE PACK WIRELESS
Yes, it’s a first world problem, but there is nothing more annoying than a dead phone without the means to charge it. Mophie’s new Juice Pack makes bringing your phone back to life easier by allowing it to charge wirelessly. It is compatible with almost all wireless charging standards so you simply have to place your phone in contact with a charging station and the battery will get a boost instantly. The battery in the case itself also adds an extra seven hours of talk time or five hours of internet use.
