To quote Madonna (something I’m not particularly fond of), “We are living in a material world.” To help you figure out which of the millions of material goods swirling around us is worth spending your hard-earned cash on, we have put together The Want List, consisting of the items we really love this week.
1. Nanamica x Baracuta N9 GTX Jacket
The Baracuta jacket is a timeless classic. Steve McQueen wore one. That should tell you everything you need to know. Now the British company has teamed up with Japanese brand Nanamica for a waterproof Gore-Tex version. A Nanamica camouflage pattern on the outside contrasts perfectly with Baracuta’s Tartan lining on the inside.
2. Case Studyo x Grotesk 6ft6in Lamp
Price available upon requeset, casestudyo.com
Artist Grotesk has collaborated with Case Studyo on a limited-edition set of lamps. The poles that the light sits atop are anchored in a pair of wooden Air Jordan I sneakers. The 6ft6in name comes from the height of Michael Jordan (the lamp itself is 30 inches tall) and the series is limited to 23 pieces, a nod to his jersey number. Each lamp also comes with a hand-painted wooden “shoebox.”
3. Whiskey Wedge
There are some purists who will only drink their whiskey neat. Good for them. If you prefer your favorite brown elixir a little chilled there’s nothing wrong with that. Just don’t water it down. With the Whiskey Wedge, a sliver of ice is held inside a silicone form that is placed inside the glass. The wedge cools your drink, but when the ice melts it stays inside the form so that you can still savor all of the flavor of your favorite whiskey.
4. Bettie Page: Queen of Curves
Bettie Page is the quintessential pinup model and Bunny Yeager is the quintessential pinup photographer. Both individuals show off what they do best in this new coffee-table book from Rizzoli, which includes both iconic images and never-before-seen photos of Page that Yeager shot during their sessions together in the 1950s.
5. John Deere Midnight Black Gator
Utility vehicles are prized for their, um, utility. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to floss in one. The new limited edition Gator XUV825i and RSX850i from John Deere come in a matte black colorway that will turn the heads of everyone from car guys to outdoorsmen to big bucks.
