To quote Madonna (something I’m not particularly fond of), “We are living in a material world.” To help you figure out which of the millions of material goods swirling around us is worth spending your hard-earned cash on, we have put together The Want List, consisting of the items we really love this week.
Burton x Martin Guitar Easy Livin Snowboard
Olympic snowboarder Danny Davis teamed up with legendary guitar maker C.F. Martin & Co. to build a board that celebrates his love of music. The graphic on the bottom of the snowboard is a picture of Davis’s custom Martin acoustic guitar, which has mother of pearl inlays on the fretboard that represent things that are special to him, such as fishing, his dogs, and peace. The board is available in three different shapes designed for different riding styles, from freestyle to all-around ripping.
Concepts x Adidas Stan Smith
Price TBA, cncpts.com
Adidas has been rolling out collaborations on the Stan Smith with everyone from American Dad’s Stan Smith to Pharrell. This one with Boston boutique Concepts is definitely one of our favorites. Instead of the usual leather, the sneakers feature a snakeskin weave on the upper. There is also a neoprene sockliner and cork insole so you can wear these with no socks and not worry about them getting musty and gross. The Concepts x Adidas Stan Smith sneakers will release October 25.
Bentley Continental GT3-R
In many people’s minds, a Bentley is a car where you lounge in the back seat of being chauffeured about, not one that you actually get behind the wheel of. But the Continental GT3-R is a driver’s car, and a powerful one at that. The twin-turbo V8 was tuned with speed and performance in mind. The car produces 572 horsepower and does 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
BottleLoft Refrigerator Magnets
$39 for 6 magnets, kickstarter.com
Every fridge should have beer in it. That’s a given. But I’ve been told that some people like to also have other stuff in the refrigerator like food (seems strange to me). The BottleLoft are strips of super-strong magnets that attach to the top of your fridge and hold beer bottles aloft creating room to store food underneath. With $40,000 already raised, they’ve doubled their Kickstarter goal so these handy magnets will become a reality soon.
Klaus Geiger G5 Power Mac Bench
Price TBA, projektgalerie.wordpress.com
With its aluminum construction, the Apple G5 Power Mac computer turned heads when it first came out in 2003. It became the go-to desktop computer for a generation of creatives. Now discontinued, Klaus Geiger wanted to find a way to upcycle the iconic design. As part of his Benchmarc project, Geiger removed the G5’s electronic insides and transformed the aluminum frames into everything from a bench to a filing cabinet to a conference table.
