The War For The Planet of The Apes trailer, which debuted this morning, showcases the film’s massive conflict between two different factions separated by the evolutionary ladder. This installment continues the story of the previous films, including Rise of The Planet of The Apes and Dawn of The Planet of The Apes, but now the conflict has come to a full-scale war. Andy Serkis plays the now fully verbal ape Caesar, who began his rapid evolution after being exposed to an experimental Alzheimer’s treatment. People have a reason to fear these badass chimps, as they now brandish guns and can cuss you out while doing so.

Woody Harrelson appears as a hardened colonel commanding a large human force—apparently the last stand against the ape onslaught. Although the result is known, and emphasized with Harrelson’s narration, we are all interested to see how the world gets there. What goes wrong (right?) in this war where the world becomes the Planet of The Apes?

To answer that question, we’ll have to wait until the summer. War For The Planet of The Apes comes out on July 14, 2017.
