Good news for Batman fans looking for a pretty decent marriage of Caped Crusader storytelling and Dark Knight ass-kicking: Warner Bros. is re-releasing the first two Arkham games on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
The Return to Arkham collection packs in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, two fairly phenomenal action games that have inspired a bunch of other action games that have come after. They’re also pretty solid Bat-stories—they’re all about the Joker and his crazy machinations, but you’ll wander around both the titular asylum and a big chunk of Gotham City fighting most of Bats’ rogues gallery, too.
Both games are updated with Unreal Engine 4 to be generally prettier than their Xbox 360/Playstation 3/PC counterparts, and this collection also packs in all the downloadable content that was released for both games. That mostly means challenge maps in Arkham Asylum, but also includes the ability to play as other characters like Nightwing, Robin, Harley Quinn and (even more) Catwoman in Arkham City.
All that’s pretty solid if you’re bummed that your last dose of Batman included Superman being a dope and made a central plot point out of the names of the two heroes’ moms. Expect Return to Arkham to drop in July.
