You don’t often associate Seth Rogen with cartoons, unless you’re a Kung Fu Panda fan, but this year the Knocked Up star and his partner Evan Goldberg (they made Superbad together, among other things) are rolling out Sausage Party, an R-rated animated comedy about what your food is really thinking when you bring it home from the store.

Much like the toys in Toy Story, all the food at the local supermarket really wants is for a human to choose it, but what the anthropomorphic goods don’t know is that, once they get to a human’s house, they’re going to be brutally chopped, peeled, grated and, ultimately, eaten. Frank (Rogen), a sausage, makes this discovery as he watches a women peel an Irish-accented potato and eat a couple of baby carrots (who, in this universe, are actual babies), and the brave little weiner decides to do something about it.

Rogen’s known for his stoner comedies, but this particular comedy looks less like a movie about stoners and more like a movie that stoners would dream up while downing defenseless Pringles at two in the morning.

Sausage Party arrives August 12.
