My friends, Bill Murray owes us nothing. He has long since passed into the realm of Untouchable Legend, which means we’re grateful for any glimpse we get of him, whether it’s at a Chicago Cubs game or at the bar mitzvah of some kid he’s never met. Yet Bill Murray, while being an untouchable legend, is also a generous entertainer, so even though he already gave us the Christmas magic that is Scrooged, he has decided to grace us with even more holiday cheer this year in the form of A Very Murray Christmas.
Directed by Murray’s Lost In Translation collaborator Sofia Coppola, the holiday special takes place in the iconic Carlyle Hotel in New York City, where Murray is planning a variety show. Then, as often happens in Christmas specials, a blizzard shuts down the production, leaving Murray with nothing to do but drink champagne and sing Christmas carols with famous friends like George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Michael Cera, Chris Rock and more. Murray declares it “the greatest night in history,” and you know when a guy like Bill Murray says that, you can’t take it lightly.
A Very Murray Christmas arrives December 4 to melt the hearts of even the coldest Christmas haters.
