What If ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ Was an 8-Bit Video Game?

Somewhere, there is an alternate timeline of Earth where we all had a chance to experience what it was like to be Ferris Bueller — if only for a day.

The filmmakers at YouTube channel CineFix imagined what it might have been like if director John Hughes’ masterpiece, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, had been ported to your favorite 8-bit video game console of the late ’80s, in place of bad versions of action flicks like Total Recall or Rambo. The result is a decidedly unfunny but fun game version of a classic film, one we surely would all be feeling nostalgic for at this very moment had it actually been made.

We’ll never know what utopia we might be living in if this were the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: The Game timeline. But thanks to CineFix, we have a sense of what we’re missing. At least we can take heart in knowing this universe [still has the terrible Back to the Future game](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BacktotheFuture(1989videogame) from 1989.
