What You Should and Should Not Eat Before Sex

What You Should and Should Not Eat Before Sex: diningchicago.com

Like any type of occasionally strenuous physical activity, our sexual performance is affected by what we put into our bodies. (Example: whiskey dick.) What we eat and drink can negatively or positively affect our sexual performance, our sex lives and our overall sex drives.

The folks over at Elite Daily recently compiled a list of foods you should avoid if you want a better sex life. They say that eating these foods and drinks elevate the blood glucose level, which can lower sex drive and cause fatigue. Here they are:

Soda.

This includes diet soda and diet drinks, period. In addition to other terrible things, diet soda can cause weight gain, which is usually not looked at as a positive in the bedroom.

Burgers and Hotdogs.

Apparently all the weird shit they put in these things can lead to inflammation, which messes with the hormones. You’re better off with some higher quality meats, ideally organic ones.

French Fries.

Most fried foods have trans fats, which make you feel sluggish and can lower your sex drive. They can even lower your sperm quality. I guess this year I should quit inhaling Carl’s Jr. at 3 a.m. on a weekly basis.

Mixed Drinks.

Mixed drinks with sugary stuff in them make you fat and dampen your horniness. So, drink vodka and soda or something. Or just drink scotch on the rocks, or neat. Be a fucking man.

Ice Cream.

Eat some fruit instead. Or maybe some frozen yogurt on occasion. Unless you’re going through a rough breakup, in which case you should probably just chill on the couch with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s while you weep your way through “You’ve Got Mail” or whatever.

Pasta.

Pasta is a glorious food, but it’s pretty bad for you. It converts into glucose, which then becomes fat unless you’re running a race or working out. I’ve been trying to cut the carbs in 2015, and things that have worked for me in the first 48 hours have been eating a veggie appetizer before a meal that includes pasta, so I’ll be less tempted to have some, and if I do have some, I’ll eat less of it. You can also make spaghetti squash, or find another pasta substitute.

Vending Machine Snacks.

You’re not yourself when you’re hungry, but you’re also not yourself after you hoover a Snickers bar. Replace the candy and salty snacks with raw nuts, vegetables or dark chocolate. (Nuts like raw almonds actually increase your libido.)

Breakfast Biscuits.

A friend of mine recently told me that the secret to happiness is breakfast biscuits made with real butter, and I agree.

Which is why this news is so saddening.

Breakfast biscuits are very processed and chemical-heavy, which can mess with your hormones.

You’re better off with an omelet with veggies and a protein for breakfast.

Game Day Food.

Pretty much all of the fun foods we eat during sporting events are bad for you. This includes wings (especially fried wings) and nachos with cheese that is so heavily processed it barely qualifies as a dairy product.

Low fat diet.

Diets that skimp on the fat can lead to a decrease in testosterone. You don’t want that. Try to adhere to healthy fats, though, like nuts, seeds, line-caught fish, grass-fed meats, avocados, etc.

Luckily, there are some foods you can eat that may actually improve your sex life, according to Nerve.

Walnuts.

They can improve your sex drive and your performance when you eat them after a fatty meal, because they keep your arteries from constricting in response to exercise and exertion.

Seeds, legumes and beans.

These have arginine, which ramps up female desire, satisfaction and frequency of sex, even during menopause.

Mediterranean foods.

I once told a woman I wanted to lay her down in a bed of hummus, and apparently that wouldn’t have been a horrible idea. Mediterranean cuisine can help women have better sex, overall desire, arousal, lubrication and orgasm. And it helps men overcome erectile dysfunction.
