Comfort. Privacy. The freedom to get a little weird, dance around in your underwear, and regret opening the door to the mini-bar. These are the things people traveling alone typically expect when they drop some Benjamins on a hotel room stay.
One company, however, is betting that you might be willing to give all that up to slash your nightly bill in half. All you have to do is one thing: sign up to bunk with a complete stranger.
Let us explain. The Winston Club doesn’t just put two people in a room together without any thought; The travel website, founded in November, boasts a free members-only service that involves some (allegedly) thorough vetting and consideration of personality and interests. According to the LA Times, you have the power to accept or reject your potential temporary roomie.
The Winston Club will work with four five star hotels to launch its flagship service in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, and Las Vegas in the spring.
