‘The X-Files,’ 'Fargo’ and More of the Week’s Best Trailers

‘The X-Files,’ 'Fargo’ and More of the Week’s Best Trailers:

We came out of San Diego Comic-Con on Monday with a boatload of fresh trailers, so many that you’d think we’d have run out, but no. In the days that followed everyone’s little San Diego adventure, we saw trailers for much more cool stuff, including the second season of Fargo, David Simon’s new miniseries Show Me a Hero, and the much-anticipated second season of The X-Files. And that’s just the TV stuff.

Check out the best trailers of the week below.

FARGO
The acclaimed FX crime series is heading back to 1979 for its second season, and it’s a bringing a killer cast — including Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, and Jesse Plemons — along for the ride. The first trailer is all flash and no plot, but in true Fargo fashion it manages to end on a laugh.

NARCOS
Next month Netflix rolls out all 10 episodes of this period crime drama that will chronicle the rise of the Medellin drug cartel and its leader Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura), as well as the story of the agents trying to bring the cartel down in the midst of a drug war unlike anything the U.S. had ever seen.

SHOW ME A HERO
Writer David Simon (The Wire) and director Paul Haggis (Crash) teamed up for this six-part miniseries based on a true story of racial tension and political drama in 1980s Yonkers, New York. We know that Simon is great at telling this kind of story, and with the cast he brought — including Oscar Isaac, Catherine Keener, Bob Balaban, Jim Belushi, Jon Bernthal, Alfred Molina, and LaTanya Richardson Jackson — we can’t wait to see how this turns out.

THE BASTARD EXECUTIONER
After years of wowing viewers and developing a loyal following with Sons of Anarchy, creator Kurt Sutter is going Medieval this fall with this series. It’s the story of a knight who, after years of war, tries to put down his sword, only to find he must take up the sword of an executioner. There’s not much on the plot in this trailer, but we can’t wait to see Sutter’s take on this world.

ADDICTED TO FRESNO
Judy Greer is one of the most criminally underappreciated actresses in Hollywood, so it’s nice to see her get a chance to not only lead a movie, but also stretch her legs and play a bad girl for a while. Greer and co-star Natasha Lyonne are a pair of dysfunctional sisters who, after a screwup on Greer’s part, find themselves accidental criminal masterminds. The trailer looks like loads of crazy fun, and the supporting cast is packed with comedy greats.

THE X-FILES
The iconic sci-fi series will return for a limited run early next year, and this week FOX dropped a very cryptic, very brief teaser. It’s only 15 seconds, but it’ll have fans of the show squealing.

SUICIDE SQUAD
Yeah, we’ve already talked about this trailer. We’ve even improved it. But it’s the week’s most-debated clip, so why not watch it again?
