Powerhouse roaster Stumptown, based in Portland, Ore., sells a coffee travel kit that’s just as impressive as its company’s reputation.
The rugged and good-looking Rambler kit is as compact as a dopp kit and could fit inside any bag you carry on a regular basis. (Blue Bottle also has a travel kit, but it’s housed in a much larger, Timbuk2 bag.) Stumptown’s kit includes a stainless steel Porlex mini burr grinder, which can crush beans finely for espresso or coarsely for a French press, an Aeropress coffee maker, which also comes with 350 filters, a stir, funnel and scoop, and two enamel-dipped, classic camp mugs stamped with the Stumptown logo. You also get a 12-ounce bag of Stumptown’s popular Hair Bender coffee, which is a blend of Latin American, East African and Indonesian beans.
Portland-based studio Wood & Faulk built the Rambler’s tough bag, making the travel kit worth buying even if you don’t like coffee. The case is made from waterproof canvas and features an English bridle leather single-strap handle, brass hardware and YKK zippers. It makes even coffee geeks look cool. Buy the Rambler for $185 on StumptownCoffee.com.
