Your Terrible Shanks Level Whole Cities in ‘100-Foot Robot Golf’

If there was ever a great use for the upcoming Playstation VR headset, it’s taking part in a golf tournament while controlling a skyscraper-sized robot that can make a drive from the moon to Earth.

The Playstation Experience conference last weekend in San Francisco saw the announcement of 100ft Robot Golf, which is exactly what you think it is. As the trailer shows, you’ll be crashing through buildings, jumping off aircraft carriers, clearing meaningless pieces of “civilization” out of the way to make a better shot, and wailing on other robots with stories-tall golf clubs.

The game sports a single-player campaign as well as a multiplayer mode that’ll support as many as four players on the same screen, and is coming to Playstation 4 sometime in 2016. It also will have a VR mode, so it sounds like you won’t have to have the Playstation VR setup to enjoy the game, but who wouldn’t want to experience driving a giant robot to play golf as if you were really there?

Here’s a (mostly joking, but also amazing-sounding) rundown of the game’s single-player mode from the official website:

“100ft Robot Golf’s unique solo campaign mode reveals the real stories and experiences of today’s robot golf pilots. Experience the excitement, romance, and thrills of driving one hundred feet of raw golfing power through some of the cheapest ‘90s-inspired mecha animation ever committed to screen.”

According to the game’s website, you can also choose to be a robot pilot who “is five small dogs in a suit.” Sold.
