In subsequent celebrity photo shoots, Playboy.com has always been on the scene to design the set, supervise lighting and cock-block the celebrity. Manson's celebrity shoot was completely autonomous. "I just borrowed a camera from a friend and used one light," he said. "I don't think it's very hard or possible to take a bad picture of Dita. I just snapped away and really didn't use much more film than what you saw."
Manson did confess, however, that some footage from the session made his private archives. "I kept some for myself," he said, "that I might want for my own personal purposes - not masturbation."
About the outtakes, Dita remarked, "I will say that there were ropes, guns and other offensive implements [involved]. I was just following direction, of course."
Manson shot his model using both color and black-and-white film. Dressed like a dominatrix and a Thirties starlet, Dita struck seductive poses draped over furniture and, oddly, alongside a giant peacock. "I wanted the photos to reflect his tastes, not just mine," she said, "so I let him decide on my wardrobe, location and lights. He gave just the right amount of direction, and he likes every pose I hit, so it was easy to work with him."

Unlike other celebrity photo shoots, Manson never appears in the photos. Well, not entirely. In one black-and-white shot, Manson's tatted arms are seen groping Dita from behind. "I know people wanted to see me involved in the picture with her," he said, "but I don't think it's a photographer's place to be in the picture. So I just wanted a hint of it."
