Scarlett Chorvat

By Rob Hill

Playboy.com: Is it true that your mom named you Scarlett because she was obsessed with the book Gone With the Wind?

Scarlett Chorvat: Well, I wouldn't say obsessed, but she loved that book. She read it a lot. When she named me Scarlett, everybody thought she was crazy. In Slovakia, which is a very religious place, most babies are named very Catholic names, so being named Scarlett was very progressive.

PB: Has it been hard to live up to being named after arguably the most famous woman in literature?

SC: Well, I didn't really even think about it until high school. People started saying stuff like, "That's not your real name." Then when I got to Hollywood everybody would ask me, "Is that your real name?" No one believed me. I've met one or two people named Scarlett, and, well, one dog, too. There aren't too many Scarletts out there.

PB: How were you discovered?

THE BASICS

WHO IS SHE?:

As "Becca," a martial arts-trained guerilla on UPN's Matrix-like Freedom, Slovakian-born Scarlett turned the heads of casting agents and guys with her Carrie-Anne Moss-esque fighting skills and skintight leather outfits. She lives in Los Angeles with her dog Shimmi.

WHAT HAS SHE DONE?:

After making the requisite modeling rounds in Europe and landing numerous small commercials, Scarlett appeared in one of 1999's most memorable commercials. In the Michelob Light ad, Scarlett thinks her husband has planned an intimate evening, so she slips into something a little more comfortable, grabs a six-pack and heads innocently into the living room where, surprise surprise, her friends and family are waiting. It ends with her demure, "Hi, Daddy." The ad got her auditions all over Hollywood and helped land her the role in the Joel Silver-produced Freedom. She also stars in the upcoming Jerry O'Connell movie Buying the Cow.

WHY DO WE CARE?:

With her drop-dead gorgeous looks, sultry name (it's real, too!) and, uh, limber body, Scarlett is on the fast track to become a smart, sexy and kickass leading lady.
