Say aloha to Miss December 2010 Ashley Hobbs. Blond-haired, blue-eyed Ashley grew up in Hawaii as a modern-day beach Barbie. In fact, after signing with a modeling agency as a teenager, the Kailua-born beauty scored a job as an extra in a commercial for a Cali Barbie. That led to more work, including modeling for a Japanese sports-clothing company, and that led to a shot with Playboy.
“I was lucky enough to have Mr. Hefner choose me as Playboy’s Miss December 2010,” Hobbs said, “which allowed me to travel the world, meet new people, and make new friends. The journey has been an experience of a lifetime.”
Hobbs, a working model since 13, wasn’t a one-and-done Playboy star. She was the cover girl for the October 2013 issue in which she dressed as a near-topless majorette for the college issue.
In 2014 Hobbs started living a gluten-free lifestyle, changing her workout routine to better define her ideal body type and her idea of true beauty. Hobbs has expressed concern that too many models in popular culture “are stick-thin, almost unhealthy looking.” This included herself.
“I have curves, and when I gain weight the weight sits in those awkward places where it is harder to get rid of it,” she said. “Then, if I was at my target weight I was this stick, undefined little girl. If you do not believe me, it is because I was always striving for a number on the scale, even if you could not see it all the time physically.”
Her new goal was to be more muscular and have “a nice-shaped round booty with strong legs, abs, and of course defined muscles everywhere else, no more stick figure.”
