If you’re a Playmate enthusiast—and we know you are—then Playboy Studio West in Santa Monica, California is what you would call hallowed ground. It is here in this photo studio several blocks from the ocean where almost all of the Playmates have been shot since 1994, along with such celebrities like Carmen Electra, Denise Richards, Brooke Burke and December cover model Cindy Margolis. It is also where, on the first Thursday of each month, Playboy has open-call tryouts for any woman who thinks she is centerfold-worthy. We call it “Polaroid Thursday” because each eligible model (you must be 18) takes some topless Polaroid shots for consideration. It draws women of all ages, races, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds—all of them driven by a single abition.
As the Playmate hopefuls gathered in our lobby this past Polaroid Thursday, we asked (pictured, left to right) Jennifer Hall, Tanis Edwards and Jacqueline Velarde why they wanted to be Playmates. “I had to take the opportunity to try out because it has always been my dream,” says Tanis, 23, a full-time model. “My mom raised me to be quite the girly-girl and always exuded what a lady should be. I like the ‘30s and ‘40s era because that’s when women knew what sexiness is. I take pride in taking that extra step that most women nowadays don’t. Plus, I love having my picture taken. Anytime there is a camera, I’m there. I’m such a photo whore!”
Jennifer, a 29-year-old freelance masseuse, says, “It would be a great pleasure to be part of something that is so big, has such a history and is so respected. I’d like to be able to look back when I am 60 and say, ‘You know what? I looked like that.’ Jenny McCarthy inspired me to do this. I’m a total goofball, and she can be a tomboy and still exude this Marilyn Monroe sexiness…and burp two seconds later. I love that.”
Miss April 2003 Carmella DeCesare inspired 21-year-old singer and dancer Jacqueline to strike a pose. “I saw her on The Girls Next Door and I love her exotic beauty,” she says. “I’m addicted to the show. I’ve modeled before and posed nude before, but it is extremely flattering to just come in here. Hopefully you’ll see me in the magazine!”

All three of the ladies look beautiful. If I was to pick my favorite it would have to be Jacqueline Velarde, to me she has a beauty that is timeless.

Out of those three, I would go with the redhead, Jennifer Hall: Tall, beautiful, and she's already got the Bunny pose down. :)
