A Shermanesque Statement

I asked contributor and friend Sherman Alexie if he had any thoughts for our blog about the recognition he received this week for his young adult novel The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. Working with Sherman on his piece “Save Me” in our December 2007 issue was nothing short of exhilarating and his reply will underscore why:

"In this glorious month I have been in PLAYBOY, Weekly
Reader, and won the National Book Award. It is a trifecta of love,
lust, and tenderness. Do you think they will let me into the
mansion now?"
