Wow! This question sucks for me because I can justify the importance of every position in the NFL, from the long snapper to the quarterback. But since most people can’t name the top five long snappers, they are definitely not overrated, in fact, hardly even rated. So as much as I am preparing myself for the lashes for what I am about to say, I am going to pick the wide receiver as the most overrated position. I would focus more on a quarterback and the offensive line than on a great wide receiver. With a great QB and OL you can still score. When Jerry Rice was with San Francisco he had a Joe Montana throwing to him. Randy Moss is an extremely talented wider receiver but how many rings does he have? Now playing with New England, even Moss himself realizes he is in a great situation. And he will probably get his ring now because he is finally on a team with a great QB and OL, and a great everything else for that matter. But how many times has New England won the big game without Moss? I think having a great wide receiver definitely helps, and there are many talented wide receivers playing. Even though TO and Moss are really shining bright this season, I think the big game can still be won without a decent wide receiver.

I think it is becoming more apparent that the most overrated position is the running back. While there is a difference between LT and someone like Earnest Graham, a strong O line decides which rusher will put up consistent 100-yard gains game after game.
My beloved Seattle Seahawks are a great example. Two years ago, Shaun Alexander set the single season touchdown record and led the Seahawks to the Superbowl. In the offseason Pro-Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson jumped ship to the Vikings, and Alexander has done little since. Now the Vikings can run either Adrian Peterson or Chester Taylor for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns a game, while the Seahawks run game is stuck in neutral. They've tried to run Maurice Morris, but he is putting up the same mediocre numbers that Alexander is producing.
It's all in the line. After that, anyone can be a feature back, just ask the Vikings.
Not being a football fan, I'm afraid I have nothing to say about the issue you discuss. But I flatter myself that I toss around the ol' nouns and verbs pretty well, and so do you.
I owe you an apology, Pilar. I forgot to get a picture of your face (specifically) at the last Marijuana Policy Project benefit at the Mansion. It was an honest mistake, I assure you.
Me gusta ver Star Wars en español para aprender esa lengua. Que la Fuerza Ud. acompañe.
Good call, Pilar. The Eagles are a perfect example of a winning team with no receivers. Until this year they were NFC favorites even before and after T.O
Please don't think I'm a racist! I didn't jump to the conclusion that you speak Spanish, Pilar!
