place.gifOur crack inern Nicole DeLuca has been testing her boundaries. Here’s her report:

This weekend, I stepped out of my usual "party boundary." Let me explain: A party boundary is the total distance from your residency to the place of action. For example, when your honey or best friend asks you if you want to go to a bar that’s a half-hour away, you would most likely say, “That’s too far for me to drive. I won’t be able to drink.” That my friend is a party boundary.

Getting back to my experience with exceeding my frontiere de partie, I found a rather refreshing bar and restaurant in the heart of Rahway, New Jersey called The Waiting Room.  It was a bit of a trip for my friend and me, considering I am from north Jersey and Rahway is in central Jersey, but the atmosphere of The Waiting Room made my party boundary worries vanish. Finding parking was a breeze, which is always a plus in my book. There is a parking lot in the back of the building if you don’t feel like finding a spot on the street. With decorative lights and a group of happy-go-lucky people socializing outside, I was excited to see what I was going to find on the inside.

After our IDs were checked at the door (21+ to enter), we made our way into a large room that had a cabin-like feel to it. It brings you into a realm of a winter wonderland in the mountains, with a touch of the city-life appeal. The dance floor was very intimate; tables were conveniently placed in between the dance floor and the bar, enabling costumers to have the best of both worlds. So, I was able to do belly shots on the bar then give someone a lap dance in only two steps. OK, so maybe that didn’t happen, but it’s still strategically possible.

Sitting at the bar, I noticed the warm cozy feeling I received from the nicely polished wooden décor. The shiny hardwood floors and the sparkling cleanliness emitting from the bar area seemed to give off a ritzy, “I’m in a private ski club” feel. But the drink prices were actually not too bad; it wouldn’t set anyone’s bank account on fire. Did I mention there is no cover? It wasn’t even hard to get a drink unlike some other places I’ve been to. There were three or four bartenders on duty, all ready and willing to take your order. Or maybe they were attentively waiting to serve me because I looked damn sexy that night?

Once the night started to get poppin’ and the liquor kicked in, people made their way to the dance floor. I can’t complain about the music selection because the DJ played songs that most people know the words to, and when you’re drunk, at least when I am, I like to sing my little heart out. The music ranged from hip-hop, country, rock and hit songs that you would hear on the radio.

If I persuaded you to step out of your party boundary and check this place out, the bar is holding a Halloween costume party on November 3. There will be prizes for best costume, drink specials, and DJ appearances. Take a few shots for me — no tequila, please.
