Matt Solomon, a writer for
The Onion, the decidedly humorous newspaper and website, has published an article entitled "
My Son And His Friends Will Never Find My Secret Playboy Stash." Solomon is a very dry writer, so it’s hard to tell how deeply his tongue is implanted in his cheek when he says, "I consider myself to be a good, responsible father. I put a roof over my children's heads, I'm always willing to sit down and help them with their homework, and I make sure to keep my titty magazines in a location so ingenious that my teenage son stands no chance of ever stumbling upon them." He goes on to consider various alternatives: under the mattress (too lumpy), in the basement (too damp), behind his guns (too visible.)
Solomon does reach an answer, but we’ll leave it to you to find out what it is—and to offer him some recommendations of your own. Meanwhile, we’ll just remind Matt that
Playboy is available in a digital version, either by
single copies or through a
subscription. A digital issue gives you everything that you get with the paper edition and more (enhanced media), with none of those vexing storage problems.
Comments on this entry:
The Onion's work is uneven. Sometimes it annoys me.
I'm counting on the decade-at-a-time digital archives (so far, so good, by the way) to replace most of my paper collection eventually (more than 200, I think, and in ridiculous disarray).
