01-med.jpgWe were pretty surprised last year when Heather Hull, the Employee of the Month in our March 2007 issue lost her job as a prison guard in Pennsylvania. By dyeing her hair, using a pseudonym (Ann Reinoehl), avoiding any mention of the state where she worked, and having her wear something other than her official uniform, we thought she had done a good job disguising her identity. Apparently not good enough.

But now, almost a year later, Heather has been given her position back. According to the Reading Eagle, “Arbitrator Charles Long said Hull did not besmirch the county’s reputation by posing in a simulated correctional officer’s uniform. Long, however, said that Hull lacked good moral judgment when deciding to pose for the magazine." On that basis, he declined to restore her back pay, saying that ‘she should have known better than to pose in a men's magazine.’

It is unfortunate that she is caught up in this extremely screwy legal system. Someone in her line of work is especially deserving of complete justice. It’s the county that is “lacking moral judgment” by withholding her back pay.

My take is the people who put these laws or guide lines in to effect and stand on them are the same people who you find with a stake of playboys or mens magazines in the closet and a list of rented adult movies they have watched. It is not right that her back pay is being withheld. I would fight that one to the end. Just like the rest of this wonderful nation we live in,things get so twisted and bent.I will stop with that before I get on a roll on how messed up things are with this and so many more things . Chin up Heather and thanks for being you!

I'm a former inmate of the Berks County Prison womens F Unit and just wanted to send my thanks to CO Miss Hull for makin' a difference in my life. Posein' for a mag is something she done on her own time but while doin' her time in her job she made a difference in my life in which I have no seen the walls of Berks County Prison in three years. They made a big mistake letting her go and she deserves every penny they costed her by fireing her. There isn't many CO's I can say who were there makin' a difference in ppls lives but she's one I can say that about. If it weren't for ppl like her I'd be another satistic in life who's in and out of jail. THank you Miss Hull for makin' a difference and congradulations on gettin' your job back. You deserve it and more. Hatas will be hatas.
