As though what the world most needed right now was a couple of million new internal combustion engines spewing exhaust into the stratosphere, India’s Tata Motors is ready to announce that it will begin production of a lightweight car that will cost a consumer from India’s emerging middle class a one lonely lakh—a mere $2500--to own.
The mostly plastic Tata will get roughly 60 miles to the gallon an will seat four. With "ample room" in both the front and rear for a six-foot individual. Need something larger? You’ll just have to wait for the deluxe version.
Hopefully the company will have the good sense to name this larger model the Bodacious Tata.
