t1_wells.jpgLast week we invited you to participate in the selection process for the Playboy Preseason All-America Football Team. We’ve heard from a few of you but not enough of you. If you don’t yell out your favorite players at your favorite school, I don’t want to hear from you in the fall when we publish our team in the September 2008 issue of the magazine.

I know that no Florida fans were paying attention last week because I inadvertently left off one of the premier quarterback in the nation. Oops! Tim Tebow of Florida is a returning Heisman Trophy winner, a lethal combination of passer and rusher, doing each for over 1,000 yards last season. By the way, Tebow is the first sophomore to ever win the award. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the pick for our team this year, but he certainly has to be given serious consideration.

Let’s quickly run through some of my favorites to make the team at running back this year... IAN JOHNSON – 5’11”, 210 pounds, senior from Boise State  He’s the nation’s leading returning rusher  with a career total of 3418 yards. You’ll remember him as the guy who proposed to his girlfriend after Boise State upset Oklahoma two seasons ago.

JAMES DAVIS
– 5’11’, 210, senior from Clemson He’s been named to the ACC first-team two years in a row. 38 career TDs.

CHRIS “BEANIE” WELLS
(pictured) – 6’1”, 235, junior from Ohio State. 1609 yards rushing and 15 TDs as a sophomore.

LESEAN MCCOY – 5’11”, 210, sophomore from Pittsburgh. He was the nation’s leading freshman rusher last year averaging 110.7 yards per game.

KNOWSHON MORENO
– 5’11”, 207, sophomore from Georgia. He had 1334 yards and 14 TDs and only started six games last year.

Don't forget about WVU's Noel Devine who will get more - a lot more carries - now that Steve Slaton has gone pro.
