Ian Fleming, creator of perpetually youthful James Bond, would be 100 years old on May 28. Unfortunately for Fleming, 80 cigarettes a day are hard on non-fictional characters, and he died in 1964 at age 56. London’s Imperial War Museum launched a major retrospective exhibit in March as a sort of year-long birthday party for the man behind the Bond. The exhibit compares the fantasy of Bond to the real life adventures of Fleming, who really was on her majesty’s secret service.

An appreciator of the good life, Fleming and his celebrated alter-ego James Bond were a natural fit for Playboy.  Throughout the early Sixties we published serialized versions of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, You Only Live Twice, Man with the Golden Gun, and (of course) Octopussy. Go on a mission to ferret out these vintage issues and settle down to enjoy them with your own Bond Girl and martini. Tuxedo and Aston-Martin optional.

I thought you would have used your published photo of Ian Fleming outside the Playboy building in your "Today at the Sign" feature!
