Passionpolitan.pngIntern Amanda Wills has been brushing up on her mixology.

One part lemonade, one part Ciroc vodka.  That’s all it takes to make one of the top summer drink picks from thebar.com.  While most of us can’t claim to be mixologists, thebar.com takes the complexity out of the cocktail and gives you the tools to create the ultimate mix.

Thebar.com invited Playboy to an intimate tutorial at its headquarters on Fifth Avenue.  We took our seats around a dimply lit bar and were introduced to Elayne Duke, thebar.com’s in-house mix master.  Duke prepared some of her favorite summer concoctions, emphasizing the importance of each cocktail’s distinctive mix.

Duke made simple and flavorful drinks with a variety of liquors including the Pom Blanco, an innovative take on the margarita.  Combing Don Julio Blanco Tequila, pomegranate juice and lime, the Pom Blanco leaves a sweet aftertaste of the fruity tequila from the Los Altos of Mexico.

But the most interesting cocktail used Tangueray Rangpur Gin and Stirrings Watermelon Cocktail Mixer. Duke served the fizzy, sweet blend, called the Melon Peel, in a martini glass.  While its taste resembled Jolly Rancher hard candy, there was a distinct hint of gin that gave this cocktail a refreshing twist.  This drink will make any gin hater want another sip.

Along with a slew of recipes for every taste, thebar.com also enlists the help of Jack Parker, virtual bartender and master mixologist.  Thebar.com assures that you’re in good hands with jack because he knows the secrets of the signature cocktails and is “happy to point you to hundreds and hundreds of drink ideas and recipes for celebrating big occasions and even cozier events.”

Seldom has drinking seemed so stylish.
