About Britney Spears
One of the world’s most successful pop stars, Britney Jean Spears was born in Kentwood, Louisiana. The middle of three children, Britney was a performer from the start. And by 1992 she was appearing on Star Search.
At age 11 she landed a role on The Mickey Mouse Club with co-stars Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Ryan Gosling. The show led to a music contract with Jive Records, and in December 1998 she released her first single, “…Baby One More Time.” The song and the album by the same name both hit No. 1, partially fueled by the video of Britney and dancers in sexy schoolgirl uniforms.
“The outfits looked kind of dorky, so I was like, ‘Let’s tie up our shirts and be cute,’” Britney told People magazine. She appeared months later in a push-up bra and hot pants on her first Rolling Stone cover.
Britney’s hits kept on rolling, including “(You Drive Me) Crazy” and “Oops! … I Did It Again,” and her personal life first entered the spotlight with confirmation that she was dating former Mouse Club costar Justin Timberlake.
As she entered her 20s, Britney shed her schoolgirl image with a self-titled album, hit single "I’m a Slave 4 U,” and an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards with a seven-foot albino python. The album also made her the first female artist to have three albums debut at No. 1
After splitting with Timberlake in 2002, Britney went on to release her third album, “In the Zone,” with hit song “Toxic,” shared a famous kiss with Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards, and won her first Grammy.
Despite her success, Britney entered a turbulent personal period. She married childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in 2004, only to have the marriage annulled after 55 hours. The following year she began dating backup dancer Kevin Federline. The couple married a year later, appeared in the short-lived reality TV show Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, and had two children before splitting in 2006.
After two years of being in and out of rehab and battling Federline for custody of their kids, Britney began to make a comeback in 2008 with TV guest appearances, three MTV awards, and two more hit albums (“Circus” and “Femme Fatal.”)
In 2014, Britney took up a two-year residency in Vegas with her show “Piece of Me” at the Planet Hollywood, and she also paired with CHANGE Lingerie to create The Intimate, her own line of lingerie, sleepwear, and loungewear.
