About Cara Delevingne
Stunning model and actress Cara Delevingne was born to a prominent family in London. Her grandmother was a lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret, and her godmother is Joan Collins. Cara and her sisters, Chloe and Poppy (also a model), enjoyed a gilded upbringing with other well-known friends. Cara has shared a flat with Georgia May Jagger, formerly dated One Direction’s Harry Styles, and is friends with the Kardashians. Witty and intelligent as well as beautiful, Cara “is, quite simply, the girl we all wish we were, or could be with,” wrote The Guardian.
Cara began her modeling career early, appearing in Vogue Italia at 10 and modeling in Cadbury ads. In 2009 she signed with Storm Model Management and began to walk the runway the following year, doing shows for Clements Ribeiro and Burberry. “Her face is strikingly beautiful with those dark eyebrows, defined features and piercing blue eyes,” make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury told The Guardian. Charlotte worked on a Vogue shoot with Cara and is a family friend. “She reminds me of Jean Shrimpton, but has great range as a model: she can go from classic beauty to quirky, from commercial to conceptual, with ease.”
The modeling jobs flooded in. Cara became the face of Burberry’s Beauty campaign, Chanel’s Resort campaign, and Yves Saint Laurent Beauté. She has walked the runway for major designers, including Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, and Stella McCartney. And she has graced the cover of magazines that include Vogue, Love, Style, and W. In 2012 and 2014 she won the “Model of the Year” award at the British Fashion Awards.
Cara’s interests do not stop at modeling. In 2012 she made her acting debut playing Princess Sorokina in Anna Karenina. She then starred in the 2014 thriller The Face of an Angel. She also voiced the DJ in the video game “Grand Theft Auto V.” Cara has musical talent, too. She plays the drums and sings. She’s recorded a duet with British soul and jazz singer Will Heard and partnered with Pharrell Williams on the song “CC The World.”
“I think Cara is much bigger than everyone’s expectations. There are whispers about music and movies, but what people should focus on is her spirit,” photographer Matthew Donaldson told The Daily Telegraph. “That spirit is of a forever girl,” the newspaper wrote, “a mini-rebel who comes once in a generation and who lights up imaginations everywhere, whatever your age or orientation.”
