Christina Linehan will peer out from two magazine covers this month -- MuscleMag and American Curves, and will handle hosting duties for Club Series at Xentopia, a Wild On type TV showcase for Honolulu's nightlife and party scene. Check your local listings for the channel and time -- and get down to your neighborhood newsstand for Christina's next SE appearance in Sexy Girls, on sale May 25 ... Shanelle Steele, who has quickly gained fans from her appearance in the March/April issue of Lingerie (on newsstands now), will also pop up in an eight-page spread in April's American Curves ... If that face in a Coors commercial looks familiar it's because it belongs to Playmate and SE Model of the Year candidate Nicole Narain. And you'll soon see her in a music video called I Don't Wanna Know by Mario Wynans (featuring P. Diddy) and in the April issue of King magazine ... Platinum vodka is another spirits company that understands the wisdom of a using a pretty face to grab your attention, so Erin Nicole is currently featured in their ads and on billboards. She's also an official "Girl of Kiss,", doing expos and promotions for the funky band ... Mandy Ashford, our May/June Lingerie cover girl, has been enlisted as a Hard Rock Girl to tout the chain's new hotel and casino in Hollywood, FL. "We're like goodwill ambassadors. Starting at the end of April we'll travel to all the area casinos making personal appearances and greeting customers." ... British babe Louise Glover won't make her SE debut until the April 27th release of Voluptuous Vixens, but she has already made the finals of the Miss Hawaiian Tropic UK competition and the cover of this month's Loaded and Revs magazine ... Anybody in the suburban Chicago area of Oak Brook can meet ESPN 2004 calendar girl and upcoming Sexy Girl (issue on sale in May) model Alba Clark on April 8 at a signing in the Champs Americana sports bar ... SE INSIDER
When we spotted Playboy's January '04 Employee of the Month-23-year-old Ohio deli worker Heidi Rhodes, we placed an immediate order. We can't complain about the service -- she popped up that same month in Natural Beauties, dished out seconds in the spring College Girls issue (on sale now) and will provide a third delicious helping in College Girls Nude (on sale May 25). We had a chat with her about her life and her sometimes surprising passions.
Playboy Special Editions: How did the Employee of the Month feature come about?
Heidi Rhodes: I was Miss July for a local radio station's calendar and had done some work with the station's photographer. He forwarded some of the pictures to Playboy and I was eventually asked if I was interested in doing something for the magazine. Of course I was interested!
PSE: Are you still making subs?
HR: It's my parents' restaurant, so I still fill in when I can use extra money or when they need someone at the last minute.
PSE: Tell us about your involvement in dance.
HR: I was a dopey, accident-prone kid, so my parents put me in dance classes to fix me. To this day I'm fine in the dance studio, but anywhere else I'm the same awkward, clumsy, dopey, accident-prone kid I've always been. I've studied everything from classical ballet to modern, gymnastics, belly dancing and everything in between, but my main passions are ballet, jazz, tap and modern -- especially anything that combines movement with sensuality. I think that's why I love the choreography of Bob Fosse so much -- it's extremely seductive while still maintaining a level of professionalism and talent that you have to respect
PSE: You're a video game junkie, right?
HR: And here's where we find out what a big nerd I am! I love fighting games -- especially the whole Tekken series. An ideal Sunday for me is waking up around noon and playing video games straight through until 3 a.m. Sad, but true. And while my nerdy tendencies are concentrated on video games, it's not limited to them -- I also love Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and comic books, especially Spiderman, The Punisher, and Spawn.
PSE: So, do you prefer to hang out with men?
HR: Not only do I prefer to hang out with men, I hang with them exclusively! There are several reasons for this: 1) I'm lazy, and most men, when it comes to leisure activities, are nothing if not lazy; 2) Men are easy to be friends with -- they're low maintenance; 3) Video games and hockey. If there's one way to quickly irritate most women it's to turn on a video game. They don't understand them. Trying to teach them how to play is a laborious task, to say the very least -- one with very little reward, because at the end of all the work and time you've put into teaching them they still don't get it and walk away, or even worse, like the game but suck at it, and you're stuck trying to humor them or lowering your level of game play. And then there's hockey. Now this is a sport where beating the hell out of each other is irrefutably part of the game. The senseless violence serves two purposes: one, it makes men love the game, and two, it makes women hate it; 4) In short, I enjoy the same finer things in life most men do-monster truck rallies, tractor pulls, boxing, staring blankly for hours at any movement on a TV and immature bathroom humor. Basically, men are uncomplicated companions.
PSE: We hear you're also a fan of The Man Show and Howard Stern.
HR: Absolutely! The things on Stern and The Man Show are funny and light -- people overreact when they take them so seriously. I personally think both shows are hilarious, refreshing and a nice break from a sometimes bleak reality. So if you can't stand these shows or disagree with them, just shut the hell up so those of us who do enjoy them can!
PSE: Do you still smoke cigars?
HR: Yes, they're my one real vice -- except for my deplorable junk-food eating habits, my passive attitude towards health and fitness and my newly developed taste for expensive whiskey. Wait, did I say one vice? Anyway, yes, I occasionally smoke cigars. But by cigar I do not mean black and milds-more along the lines of coronas, torpedoes, perfectos, robustos and lonsdales.
PSE: You seem to blend traditionally male preferences into a very feminine package.
HR: I think I've settled somewhere in the middle of the two extremes. I don't really make a conscious effort to be feminine or not to be feminine. I just enjoy the things I do regardless of how they fit into conventional male or female roles. I do what makes me happy, and I'm comfortable in my own skin. I think there's something very sexy about that.
