About Emily Ratajkowski
Planning to strut your stuff—in nothing but an invisible thong—for a much-buzzed-about, number-one music video? Yeah, people are going to start talking about you.
Emily Ratajkowski, a model since age 14, was 22 when she made the leap from appearing in retailer ads and acting on Nickelodeon’s iCarly to showing it all off in Robin Thicke’s 2013 “Blurred Lines” video, which was called “too hot for YouTube.” (The unedited version was pulled from the site but is available on Vevo.)
For Emily, though, it wasn’t that much of a leap. Between her exposure to nudity through her artist father and joining her mother on nudist beaches in Europe, she’s pretty comfortable in her own skin—and nothing else. “The female body is a beautiful thing, and it should be embraced and celebrated, and there’s nothing wrong with being comfortable in your own skin,” she told Ocean Drive in an interview. “If anything, it can be really beautiful. And the way that I was dancing [in the “Blurred Lines” video], sort of sarcastically and I felt silly, it wasn’t for men—it was for myself and for other women, just like you would dance around your apartment.”
Turns out men were paying attention, though. Including Ben Affleck, who pursued her for a role as his mistress in the movie Gone Girl. “Some viewers are going to think, I see why he was cheating on his wife: Not only was he unhappy, he has this sweet, beautiful girl that totally loves him,” she said in the Ocean Drive interview. “And then a lot of women are going to go, ‘That little slut!’”
When she’s not steaming up the screen (or the magazines) or being named one of the sexiest women in the world (FHM) or “Woman of the Year” (Esquire), Emily lists coffee as one of her favorite things, goes gaga for flowers, and often Instagrams photos of her brunches.
She has dated creative director Andrew Dryden and in 2015 was rumored to be dating musician and businessman Jeff Magid.
