Kick Off October With a Ghoulish Cartoon Collection From Playboy's Past

By Gahan Wilson

Influenced by the satirical cartoonists of Mad and Punch, Gahan Wilson made a name for himself depicting our favorite science fiction monsters in humorous scenes rivaling the work of Charles Addams. Having cartoons and comics published in The New Yorker, National Lampoon and Playboy, Gahan became an instant staple in American cartooning.

In celebration of Halloween, we’re rolling out a month-long tribute to Gahan’s most ghoulish and grotesque cartoons. In this series, we’ve gathered our favorites from the 60s and 70s, like the daylight savings vampire and the murderous optometrist.

Check back each week for another edition of “The Weird World of Gahan Wilson”.
