Sitting on beachfront property in Venice Beach, Flip Flop House by Dan Brunn Architecture balances beach and art in its space-efficient and clean design. To achieve having both stunning views of the ocean and the ability to display the owner’s art, architect Dan Brunn solved the problem in a unique way. “The client wanted a glass house, but they also have this collection of archival photographs. And the question became how do we do both? How do we have walls and a view? And that’s how the ‘flip flop’ was born,” he explains. Panels turn, providing views from inside the main office space. But if you’re standing on the inside looking the other way, you have four walls used for art. Not to mention, the wine cellar, atrium garden, sun deck and reflecting pools only add to the coolness of Flip Flop house.
