I’m betting that you’ve already watched the Yahoo interview with X-Men Apocalypse writer and producer Simon Kinberg at least once trying to figure out whether or not there are plans to recast the roles of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm with younger actors to fit the retro timeline he started with X-Men: First Class. Don’t worry, I watched it, too, and I’ve done the math so that you don’t have to.
Let’s take Storm as an example: Halle Berry was 33-years-old when the first X-Men came out in 2000. If, as Kinberg says in the video, the next X-Men film takes place roughly twenty years prior to the first, that would make Storm about thirteen in the current timeline. So, unless X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer is considering offering the part to Annie’s Quvenzhané Wallis, it is unlikely that we will see the white-haired weather dominator this go ‘round.
What is far less likely, however, is that Twentieth Century Fox is going to stop making X-Men movies any time in the next decade. So, it is very probable that we will see Storm reintroduced at a younger age in subsequent films. Here’s ten rising starlets who could be electric in the role.
