I didn't think I could be more excited about going to California to shoot, until I learned the photographer was Lisa Boyle. Yes, THE Lisa Boyle. I had looked at her website online and was so anxious to see what we may be doing. Not only is Lisa extremely hot, but she is also an extremely gifted photographer with an eye for edgy raw sex appeal. I was a little nervous when I arrived, mostly because I just wanted her to like me! This was the first time I had ever shot with a woman photographer and I didn't quite know what to expect. I was lucky to be able to work with Lisa because she has been on both sides of the camera and I felt comfortable working with her. The whole time we shot I felt girly, a bit naughty, and uninhibited. I guess there is just something about being with a woman. We did some really fun shots, and I think you may be a little surprised to see this side of me! I am just as anxious to see the photos as all of you are!

I was filled with anticipation on my way to the NY shoot, and I really didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. My hotel room was tiny, but right in front of the bed was a slender silver desk on which I laid out my laptop and books. (How very Carrie Bradshaw did I feel?) I kept wondering what the next day would be like, after all NY is filled with possibility. The first day we went to a gorgeous home overlooking Central Park. It was feminine, full of character, and from that high NY looks like the Emerald City. (from all of the patina copper) I was invited in with a warm welcome, and was able to work with an interesting and amazing group of people. As I headed back for the hotel I decided to walk to take it all in, and what an incredible city. The second day of shooting was at another home, and it too was filled with interesting detail. I had the pleasure of meeting NY firemen just before lunch! Although we weren't formally introduced, we were shooting at a window while they happened to pull up down below. Of course I had to wave even in my undies! When the day wrapped and I headed home I felt really good about the shoot, and a little sad I couldn't stay to explore the city a little more. It really does seem to have a personality all of its own, and I was smitten.

I had been called a straight shooter before, but until this year it had a different meaning. In March I shot a gun for the first time, and it has since become one of my favorite hobbies. Honestly, I had always been afraid
to try it, but I can't seem to resist a
challenge ... especially if it involves conquering my own fears. When I go to the range I become very focused, yet somehow it is relaxing. There are no opinions, no questions, and only one goal ... hit the target. It takes my mind off of everything else because the only thing I think about is hitting the target. So when Playboy asked me, "Do you do anything that guys like to do?" ... I thought, "Nope ...
wait I can shoot a gun!" Later when
I went to Chicago I learned I would be shooting with the head of Playboy security. Who gets to do that?!! He said he was impressed and I have to say it made my day! He taught me a few things, and it was amazing. I guess you could call me a straight shooter now, and you would be correct in multiple aspects!

Ahhh...when I was first asked to write a blog about karaoke I thought,"OH NO!!" (insert a huge sigh) My dilemma was to tell the truth or to not tell the truth, and because I would never be satisfied with it otherwise...I had to go with truth! You see the I have sang since I could open my mouth. My favorite toy growing up was a Mickey Mouse recorder with an attached microphone. Later through life it was my biggest passion, and I filled my time with choir, musicals, theatre, and talent shows. As I got older I settled into life and it fell somewhere in between, but your dreams never really die. Fast forward to Chicago 2009, and there it was, "Sharae you're singing karaoke!" You would imagine I would have been thinking, "Here is my chance!" However it was the furtherest thing from my mind. I love karaoke because it is always a fun time with friends, the issue is it is also always in a bar! When we got there I was very nervous. Not to worry because the photos were done, and there was no shortage of margaritas or laughter! "You're up!" The first thing that crossed my mind was, " Oh shit, I'm pretty sure that last drink was a bad idea, I'm also pretty sure I'm now tone deaf, I can't back out, relax this is going to be fun anyway!" So up I went to do a rendition of "I love rock and roll", not a bad karaoke song. And okay, no one at the bar usually sounds perfect on karaoke, so after more laughter and margaritas I was up for round 2! This time I somehow settled on "Killing me softly". I was actually so bad by this time I had crowd involvement to help me out!! It could not have been more fun! So truth be told I didn't want to admit to one to many, but couldn't justify the performance otherwise! So if you've ever found yourself waking up thinking," Oh shit, did I really do that last night?!", you were probably at a karaoke bar! Luckily, Playboy was there to capture my most embarrassing moment for your viewing pleasure!! haha

I arrived at the studio in my usual jeans and white tee, anticipating what the day would hold for me. With my hair in rollers and a spark of curiosity, we cabbed it to the Congress Theatre. In the cab I was asked, " How do you feel about shooting today?" In truth a whirlwind of thoughts had been going through my mind all morning, and still "I'm excited" seemed to be the only words to fumble out of my mouth. A few blocks later, we were walking into the theatre and we all noticed the major obstacle for the day...no heat ladies and gents! Ironically, our first shoot was in the boiler room. I thought the cold, dirty, steel room was an appropriate choice, sometimes things are not as they seem. At times I wasn't quite sure if my entire body trembled from the cold, the thrill, or the angel and devil on my shoulders that seemed to be shaking me back and forth. Then it was time to shoot, and as I looked down I noticed my jean jumper was stitched with a patch that said, "Lucky". "Hmmm", I thought, "I am a pretty lucky girl...and at least it doesn't say 'Bubba'!"
