Playboy.com: What was meeting Hef for the first time like?
Colleen Shannon: We met halfway through my photo shoot, just so he could get to know me. He has such good energy and is a very positive, happy man. He really welcomed me into the Playboy family. And he dances really well, too! He does what I like to call the Hef Shuffle. He's got some crazy little moves.
PB: You live in California now, but you grew up in Alaska. Is it true that there are more men than women up there?
CS: Well, they say that, but I think they just say that to get more women to move there! My dad had a fishing boat when we lived there, and built a house on a small island. My mom worked on the Alaskan pipeline. I still go back once in a while for fishing trips.
PB: Tell us about your tattoos.
CS: I have several. A lot of them are vintage, retro tattoo art. The stars and dots I have on my ankles and wrists are inspired by sailor tattoos. I also have a cat tattoo on my ankle. I got it because when I first started DJ'ing I was going by the name Cosmic Kitten. I got the cherries on my foot because I was part of an all-girl vintage car club called the Cherry Bombs. I have a 1950 Chevy Fastback.
PB: Have you tricked it out?
CS: Yeah! There's actually a flame kit on my Chevy. It shoots out two-foot fireballs. I'm restoring it right now. I was going to sell it, but I decided not to. It's a '50, and now I'm the 50th Anniversary Playmate...50 just seems like my lucky number.
